| please help...again
when i removed the stock cans to replace there are these clamps on the end of each of the Y pipe, they are wrapped fully around with no openings and are clamped down indented into the pipe, they dont slide, dont twist, and i need them gone so my new cans can slide down further, anyone ran into this? do i use a cutter and cut them, im scared of cutting the pipe. heres a pic. (its the rusty ring)

Please put an arrow to exactly which piece you are talking about. Because (and my eyes aren't the best), I think you are actually talking about the exhaust gasket.

I thought the Two Brothers was a single can? You should have received a new pipe to replace the Y-pipe and a dummy can for the left side that is storage only. But to answer your question, NO. The stop on the Y-pipe does not come off and is to be used as a stop for how far the can slips on. It seems to me that you have either the wrong system or a incomplete system. |

i bought the dual can system, so the Y stays there, however what ever the metal band was, i used a cutter to cut it, then used an air hammer with narrow tip on it to pop it off, hope its not a big deal. just finished the whole job, cant wait for the silicon sealent to dry so i can try it out. thanks for the help.

I put on the Yoshi slip ons and I didn't have to cut anything.... When you took off the stockers they should of came off from the ends of the y-pipe. Did you disassemble the cans from the midpipe? That clamp should loosen and then the midpipe along with the can should slip off with a little twisting. Then the new one slips on, and the rusty ring is as far as it can go. I am not sure about the silicone sealant. I didn't use any and don't think Ive heard of anybody using it before. Last edited by myztical; 11-28-2009 at 08:34 PM. |

I'm pretty sure that metal band is there as a stop to keep your cans from sliding down the y pipe.

Should be O.K. But I think you'll want to install new ones if you decide to reinstall the stock cans.

Gorilla glue is great a long as you spit on the matching part. But on an exhaust system, I wouldn't count on it. It would look something like a bad spray foam installation. | |
