So the bike from my original thread: Carbs are evil! , has ended up in my garage again somehow. I never did fix that problem since I had no interest in spending any money on it and I did all the cleaning I could (time for jets!). But now I'm hoping with a little $$ and some work my girlfriend will be able to learn to ride on this. Either that or get it running to sell/trade for something more suitable. But anyways.. I never mentioned the clutch problem I had with it.. when I did drive it around the block the few times, and even just pushing it around.. the clutch does not fully disengage. Its very scary actually when your bike is idling at 5k rpms and your trying to stop ![]() I played with the adjustment (that now i forget what the adjustment is even for exactly) a couple times and it didnt make any difference.. the cable is adjusted. Any chance that this could be caused from sitting around too long and it just needs to get some use? lol.. or will I be looking at another replacement part? |

Could be one of several things, me, I would pull the clutch apart and inspect it. You may have a coupel plates that are stuck together. Or, just corroded plates, clean 'em up and try 'em again. Warped metals are not totally uncommon, they would need to be replaced. Sometimes the fiber plates swell, but I bet they just need a good cleaning. Get a gasket, whatever tool you'll need to remove the clutch basket, clean it all up, break the effing plate because you overtightened the 10mm bolts that do through the springs, then curse some more after you spend hard earned money for that part and then reassemble something else wrong that causes you to start all over again - Then you finally get it right and realize you really should fix those carbs.... It's all good, right? |

Haha.. that does sound very similar to my own life. Yeah I think I will try to take it apart tommorow if I have some time. See what it looks like. Just found a place to order a couple sets of jets for like $12 so I'll be on that carb problem soon. ![]() That and some new tires and I think this bike will be pretty good. |
