Want to drag race an electric bike? You'll be up against KILLACYCLE !! Which is going to be tough because Killa has been around since 1999. No doubt the NHRA will open up a new class when the time comes but for now head to head w/ combustion is what's happening. You a DIY kind of person?? Ever wonder what it would take to convert that old rusting two wheeler out back into an eco-friendly green machine? Here are some folks that did just that; www.electricmotion.org DIY Electric Motorcycle Kicks Butt, Gets 300 eMPG | Hypermiling, Fuel Economy, and EcoModding News - EcoModder.com |

Are we there yet? Are electric motorcycles a better way? Can a more eco-friendly, green machine be built to satisfy two wheeled enthusiasts? Maybe. We are still in the early stages, many problems to solve not the least of which are co$t, weight, range, recharge times and concerns of toxic chemical release in a crash. But all technological efforts have to start somewhere and momentum is building, costs will drop, problems will be solved and we will get there. Electric motors allow for an almost completely flat torque curve, all the "power" available "right now". This can be good and bad so expect to see some interesting "transmissions" to limit the application of monster torque under varying conditions. |

There are recent efforts at M.I.T. that have lead to an incredibly fast charging battery. Expect to see these "super quick charge" batteries in cell phones within just a few years. The application of this super quick charge technology to the electric/hybrid auto and motorcycle industry isn't far behind. So far I'm liking Brammo, a cafe styled bike option poised to make a splash with a serious branding effort.
