Say Hello to the New Bike in the Family!

Some of you may be familiar with the ride my wife and I took last month from NY down to VA and NC, riding Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had such an amazing ride, and love riding together so much that we decided to upgrade our touring abilities.

So, meet the newest member of the garage (haven't picked out a name yet), a Hot Rod Pearl Yellow 2009 GL1800 complete with ABS, Navigation System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, XM Radio (with weather and traffic service), Premium Audio (4 speakers, 2 tweeters, 80-watt per channel amp), and Comfort (heated grips, a heated seat and passenger backrest, and foot-level warm-air ducts) packages. Basically, it has everything Honda offers minus the airbag.

I've always wanted one of these in Honda's Pearl Yellow. This is a 8-year dream finally come true!

Nice bus! My GF is after to me to get something like that...but I'm too still too young

Kidding aside, for touring that bike is the king of the hill. Real nice!

Five years, ABS, built-in GPS, XM radio with realtime weather overlay on the GPS display, tire pressure monitoring, the color (from red to yellow), comfort and audio packages. I also picked up some new J&M headsets for our helmets for music, intercom, and GPS directions, and they are a HUGE improvement over the old ones in sound quality.

And with the economy being what it is, I was able to get it for nearly $4K off sticker. The dealer also matched an online price for the 4-year Honda Protection Plan (bringing the factory warranty to seven years), from $699 to $419 and threw in some Goldwing apparel for good measure. The dealer is Ray Laks in Lancaster NY, one of these new Honda "5 star, power dealerships" and they were a pleasure to do business with!

jealous............. very nice. Testing out '09 voyager the other day got me thinking in this direction as well.

Took my wife for 80 mile ride on the back of my 919 today and she couldn't say what was worse, vibration of the rear handle or the noise of my Satos We had a good time though

The $500.00 Cobra mufflers sound AWESOME on the GL1800 - a true Porsche like snarl, yet, not too loud.

Something to consider.

I see you have come full circle.
Got rid of your Red one to come back to it in Yellow.
Congrats! I now know you did not completely loose your mind. LOL

That wing is one of my favorites. That will be my final bike purchase.
Once I get one of those I'll never ride anything else.

Nice choice for a replacement Ken: Love the color along with all the bells n' whistles. Are you going to ride it down to CT for the BBQ on 8/2/09?
