| Lunch rides?
I have several coworkers that ride. It will be fun to know them out of work. However one wheelie showboater never wears gear and am concerned he will show off and get hurt. What have been your lunch ride experiences?

Don't do it. I make it a policy to not ride with anyone without proper gear on. If an "incident" takes place the outcome is usually a lot different for a rider who is wearing gear. At the very least get him to wear a helmet, gloves and boots.

Don't ride with the squid. I'll ride with someone who isn't fully geared up, but they have on a good start to the essentials...(gloves, helmet, jacket). I take solo rides during lunch. Farthest I went was 45 miles one day. I rode from my office to a local dam and watched the barges go through. |

If I am unsure of a riders abilities or if I know they do not ride safely, but I want to ride with the others in the group, I just stay behind them.

| aaaawww, and I thought this was gonna be a thread about NOONERs ![]() My desk is about 2 blocks away from where I park my bike (or truck, whatever). And since I only take a 30 minute lunch break, I don't ride my bike at lunch (when I ride to work). I'd sure like to, but being an hourly employee - I'd rather work my 8 and GTFO ... I take the long way home to make up for it. |

I ride alone............................................. cause my skills suck! On the other hand, you never ride alone if you are schizophrenic. |

If you wouldn't ride with him outside of work, why bother to do so during lunch at work.

| Why do you care if he f's himself up. If he's old enough to ride a street bike, then he's old enough to know better. I personally would care less if he mangles himself. However, I still wouldn't ride with him.

![]() Your skills are perfectly fine since you keep the rubber side down and ridden much more than most! Quote:
After more thought, the downside risks are too great. I will keep my social interaction limited to lunch eating and ride Solo. Thanks! Last edited by dream; 03-11-2010 at 06:21 AM.

We sometimes do a Friday lunch ride with a mutt pack of bikes and riders. We get one of the HD guys to lead the way and that keeps everyone at a mild/medium pace... It also helps that the head of security and a safety engineer rides with us too. |

It's great to hear from you Ray and hope all is well! The best group ride I've done is the one you organized. Let's ride soon.
