Hi everyone, my name is Stephen and I ride a 2007 919. I've been on this forum for a little while now and picked up lots of great tips from all of the people here. I spend most of my time between NJ and NYC so feel free to drop a line if anyone wants to go on a group ride in the area. Looking forward to seeing you guys around.

Welcome Stephen! Gotta ask - do you mean the headlight is from a LTR 450 quad?

I'm in Bergen County. I usually ride in southern NY (away from the city Harriman-ish area) or NW Jersey. Always looking for people to go riding with. I'm not an aggressive rider, and I usually stay within 10 of the limit, but I don't loaf around either.

Yep, LTR 450 quad. I got it because it's a relatively inexpensive headlight housing that looks good and has enough space to retrofit a bi-xenon HID projector.

When I'm riding at night back late from work on unlit roads with deer, I need something better than the stock headlight that can really throw clean light far down the road.

Welcome, Stephen...that's an interesting mod...I totally agree with you about the need for it.

Hi there... i'm in Wharton if you ever want to ride. Seems like there are quite a few of us from NJ...let's plan a big group ride!

I purchased my bike two summers ago. I rode quite a bit the first summer and maybe only 10x last year (I know, I know...). This year will be different. I never did a complete break down to clean the bike so it's currently in pieces. Some parts that I thought were black actually turned out to be stainless-colored - who knew?! Once my sprocket and chain arrives this week, I will probably be ready to ride next week.

Nice work on the retrofit bi-xenon. I was thinking of doing something similar with the stock housing...where'd you get the projector from?

I ordered the FX-R projector directly from The Retrofit Source (U.S.) - HID Projector Retrofit Kits, Retrofit and HID Componenents, Projectors Lens, Wiring Harnesses, Shrouds and more!. They usually sell them in pairs, but I was able to call and order a single unit.

The stock headlight housing won't provide enough space to clear the steering head. You'll need about 6.5 to 7.5" to fit both the length of the projector and the igniter cap. Add some more on top of that for a headlight housing to prevent scratches on the lens.

hello
I'm just north of you, in the Pittstown area. I'll keep an eye out for another red niner out there.

Isn't Pittstown just north of Elbowville and south of Nape-of-the-necksburgh?

There could be three of us in the immediate area with red 919's. I just picked this one up in December down in Chattanooga. Too good a deal to pass up.

Yes, It can get hairy going to Elbowville but Nape-of the neckburgh is normally smooth.
