Declan, I checked out the route, and I'll be sending you my address and maybe a map of how to get through town to get here. I'm on the North end of town not too far off of I-680... pretty simple to find. I'll plan on taking the day off from work & come meet up with you west of town.

Ooops, I had a little mental error this morning. I knew why there was a reason I couldnt go in Sept but totally forgot about it this morning, cuz I really would like to go but Annie's due date is the 15th, I not going to be doing anything but tending to my wife and new daughter at that point.

Not at this beach. North a bit, they do. If you guys get here early I will direct you to them if you want. Also you can go south a couple hours and gets a ride on an old Bi Plane and see where the Wright Brothers started it all. The is also a Busch Gardens one hour north, etc.....

Tons to do. Jet Skis included. But for this event... Nope.

Hope, I attached a link in the first part of the thread that shows the park and what is available.
There are surfing lessons you can pay for in the resort area of the city.

This park was picked because it is not touristy and secluded.

I do not mean it negative at all. This park is secluded and will be nice to see the 'real' beach as opposed to fighting traffic and higher prices to look at hotels.

This is a place where it should be pretty obvious who is in our group and very easy to socialize.

Yes it is Hurricane season, but kinda tail endish. It is a crap shoot here. One year we get nothing, the next we get weeks and weeks of bad storms. More often than not, it is nice that time of year.

As for a place to stay, I have some floor space, but it looks like all my rooms and couches have been taken.

+1 This area we will be having the get together is away from the busy, busy beach/strip area. We can take you guys down there if you'd like but it will be traffic city

Just as f4iguy said, Hurricane season is touch and go here. Each year they predict how many Hurricanes are expected to develope so it's kinda like a flip of the coin. We may get one, We may not

Ned... There is a route from Raleigh to a bit south of Roanoke Rapids (561 maybe). You can take it to 4. 4 will take you into Ranoke Rapids, then cut over to 301 via rt 48. Jump on 301 north for about .3 miles then take 186 toward Boykins. At the light, make a left on Rt35. Then a right onto Rt 671. 671 will take you to Rt 58 about one hour from VB.
