| You can pick up 36 out of Byers, to get across Kansas with out having to go on the 70-Slab..... I use to ride from Den. to Va. every two year to visit family...... I like 36, and you won't lose much time.

Just a heads up Mike. I got an Email from Bob (BDVMAX) the other day. He will not be making it to the Shindig this year. He fell at work July 24th and hurt his knee very bad, actually split his knee cap in half He is healing up fine so far but will be in a cast for another 4 weeks. Expected to return to work in October. Bob was bummed out cause he and his wife were looking forward to the ride and coming out to the beach.Bob and his wife are great people. This bad turn of events made Amy and I sad. We were looking forward to seeing them again. |

A long day on Friday.... I spent the morning and early afternoon at Little Island. Got sunburned, got relaxed, enjoyed some water and sun with my girlfriend, her sister and her sister's boyfriend. I forgot how nice the playground is out there. Those with smallish kids will be entertained by the playground. If you like to fish, bring your tackle and a couple bucks, the pier was packed on Friday. --- After spending the day at the ocean, we headed back and got cleaned up for dinner. Met up with Snikwad at The Abbey Road Pub. ![]() Nice to spend the day at the beach.... and I can do this whenever.... (looking forward to sharing the experience with more WTers.) For those coming in September... you will not be disappointed. Last edited by bloaker; 08-09-2009 at 07:50 AM. |

I just found out we have to attend a wedding that weekend. In 5 years when those two idiots get divorced I'll send each of them a bag of steaming dog poo & let them know I'd rather have been at a cookout than their stupid wedding.

OK, Hope and I have been talking. We're making plans now for making it out for the get together! After looking at maps, I'm thinking it will take 5 days to get there from Colorado, so we will be heading out by the 13th to be in VA by the 18th. of course our plans could get wiped out by bad weather, so let's hope that doesn't happen!

I talked with Hope earlier tonight...She says that she thinks we can get there in 3 days. I said 4 minimum, probly 5....any thoughts? I'm pretty sure that the 3 day plan is equivalent to smoking crack! "but my bike's comfortable..", she says. Sheesh! |

I have covered 800+ miles on consecutive days. It sucks for a bite, but you kinda get in a grove after a while. Take breaks (which I don't do) and you can probably make it farther. I have only done long distance for time usually, not to enjoy them. The problem I have, is when you shut down for the night, you are ready to sleep... but once you get the hotel room... you start thinking I could have gone another hour or so.... Can Hope ride a motorcycle (sorry if that sounds bad)? If she can, the occassional switching of bikes helps too. Different pressure points and different vibrations... Might want to bump up your front sprocket for the ride as well. OK, I am actually starting to get excited about this now.... |

Ouch!!!! Also, I just noticed the first picture on page one..... there is no play ground. Hmmm... Must be an old picture. Anyhow... if you look at the sidewalk coming back from the pier... the first building to the right is the bathroom. The next is the shelter we have reserved. In between the two... there is a bunch of sand in the picture. In reality, there is a huge playground there now! |

Did I miss anyone on the list? Anyone's head counts changing? Any last minute additions? MajorRanger, I do not see you name on the list, but thought we talked about it, I cannot remember. Monk, I thought you were gonna, but then couldn't. I just want to plan it right now that we are getting closer. |

Was just thinking about this yesterday.... Depending on who will be in Town Sunday... we can do a trip through Pungo (if small group that wants to ride for an hour or so) or we can run out to the country. My mom has actually cooked breakfast for my riding buddies before. if we get a group together, i can call her and ask if she will again. Just no 'cussing' at my parents place. No matter how much my dad does it! |

Hey Hope, Declan... Any idea about when think you'll be cruising through here? Monday or Tuesday? I'll be here, just want to be ready when you come through. |

I'm getting all packed up now, ready to go! I just finished making my swingarm prop-rod for chain oiling along the way, and my new custom-made sheepskin seat cover is sweet! I'm gonna go wash the bike now, as it just wouldn't do to start out on a journey with a dirty motorcycle! ![]() Looks like Hope and I are set to leave tomorrow morning, at around 9:19 am, so all is right with the world! Yay! |
