That page is from a reseller, so ofcourse they will talk it up, but it does have some interesting facts about the helmets.

The helmet shown isn't $160, it's $450, so they are still up there in price.

Can anyone deceifer if they are saying Vemar helmets DID or DIDN'T pass Snell testing? Thanks.
Ragdoll. I won't compare the Vemar to the ones you list because I've not tried them on a one to one but compared to the ones I have it is one of the best in fit, quietness and vent. Plus aerodynamics. It is not Snell certified and that is one of the reasons that I bought it. After reading the articles in Motor Cyclist mag. and Snells reply, I'd never wear a Snell approved helmet. In some tests your brains would actually flow out of your eyesockets before the helmet started to collapse like it should. And other things. It does meet the Euro standards.

You can find them on E-bay. That is where I got two of mine for $200 each. Do not buy the blemished ones. The third one, a carbon fiber one I bought from this place when they were only $320.

I have been learning thing about Snell lately that are surprising. I guess I don't know what to think at this point. I know that the Vemar helmets are DOT and 22-05 certified. The 22-05 is the highest European standard for helmet safety.

I read a review that actually stated that the helmet is quite loud. I've heard a few others say the same. But then they said that everything else made up for it. I wear ear plugs when riding, so I wouldn't care so much anymore.

Another review on the helmet, taken from RPM Magazine

Yes I own one. It doesn't have quite the build quality of the SHOEI or ARAI, but it is a damn good helmet in all respects & for $160 shipped it really is the best bang for the buck I have ever seen for riding gear

What is one or two things that stand out as lower build quality? Thanks.

A good read for anyone/everyone

The graphics & like the plastic tabs that they use for opening & closing the vents etc... It's not something that should really even be brought up it's so trivial. I should be thrilled about how good the ventilation is instead of complaing about aesthetics, but you know how anal I am about the things I evaluate. Oh & btw you cannot fog these visors!

Those slider vents on the side of the helmet seem like a problem in my eyes. Not a problem problem, but it'll probably drive me crazy. My first helmet was an HJC AC-10 and it had those slider vents on the side, you look at them the wrong way and they're sliding all over the place. Personal annoyance.

I took this from the link that I posted above: "The Wayne State Tolerance Curve is the result of a pretty gruesome series of experiments back in the '50s and '60s in which dogs' brains were blasted with bursts of compressed air, monkeys were bashed on the skull, and the heads of dead people were dropped to see just how hard they could be hit before big-time injury set in"

Dude! That's not cool. Again, a very interesting article if you have a lot of time on hand.

My VSR doesn't have any side vents. It has a center chin vent, one on top & two on the back side the two on the back side were the ones I was actually referring to.

I'll pick one up tonight and then when I get it I'll meet you in a dark alley and you can check it out. Although you have a fat head Mr. XL.

Too late...just ordered one (the silver and black one, figured if you wanted one you would get the red and silver that looks kinda like your shoei) I did the size chart and called the store and the guy on the phone told me go with a large instead of XL since I feel my HJC is a bit on the large size.

You poophole, I was going to get that one.

I just went to Vemar's and Shoei's sites and they both showed the same measurements for Large... so I'm assuming this thing is going to fit just like my Shoei, or it's going back. Well, if I dont' like the red one, I'll just swap with you.

If you need to swap it out the guy said that if you pay for shipping he will change the size.

You can't be too young to know about the Bass-o-Matic. "Yessss it's just that simple!"

Here's proof that I'm not too young. "We don't care, we don't have to, we're the phone company."

I loved when she was hitting all those keys with her elbows, haha. Good times...

I'm 23, I wonder how old I was when those came out? I must have been 4 or 5?
