| MachMoto.com | Ahhh! Broke my Arai
I was changing the shield on my Arai and a small tab on the exterior cover where the shield inserts was broke off. Now the cover is sticking out and will not except a shield? FYI - I've been changing shields on this lid with out issue for over a year, so user error is out of the question. I like the Arai but this locking system for the shield is flippin retarded. |

Funny thing is, I actually had it sold yesterday! Since the lid is no longer new, I'll either have to make him a better deal or just back out. Fortunately he did not give me any money yet. I feel bad now! I know its just a replacement part for the Arai so i'll be back in it once I go through the warranty process. |

The sheild removal on my Arai is the one thing I don't like about my helmet. I took mine off to put a tinted visor strip thing on the clear sheild and thought I was never going to get it back together. Not really sure what the appeal is in this system myself.

I had issues with this system - the cure - its needs to be adjusted. Take it to you local shop/Arai dealer and have them to pop the pod off and adjust the big screw under it. I dont rember spces, but, if its loose or too tight, youll shread pods all day -

| I am sorry to say I have used Arais in the past and that system drives me nuts! I detest it. No amount of adjusting makes it better. By the way - the KBC VR-2 has superior peripheral vision. I traded in my Arai RX-7 Corsair for the KBC.

| I completely agree with you on that. Arai has not changed their Opening on their helmets in like forever. KBC actually made the face port or opening on the VR-2 Larger just for that reason - it gives superior peripheral vision without compromising structural integrity or safety. One downside - you cannot wear the helmet with the visor open - AT ALL! Not even at 30 MPH.

I've no problem with doing mine once I studied the mechanism. Just got to remember to bring the two locking tabs forward and push the shield prongs up and in when inserting the shield. |

| When I first bought my 919, I didn't know how to ride yet. One fear was visibility through the helmet. Lucky me, I bought a Quantum II :P

| Shoei RF-1000. Equal (or better) to Arai in build, comfort, safety, etc and absolute BEST shield system on market. I swap shields without even removing the helmet, in about 10 seconds flat.

Switching shields is just a state of mind... I can do mine with the helmet on, I own several RX7's.

I did like my shoei rf1000 but I think the seven -0- seven I just got has better ventilation, is just about as quite and weight difference is minimal.. and it was about 250 bucks cheaper. Easy as can be to switch shields, and did I mention its really really comfy

I'm with the Shoei guys. The shield system is incredible. Super easy and the system feels just as solid as the first time I swapped shields. Some great deals can be had on the RF1000's, especially since an 1100 version is about to be released.

After being told my Arai could not be fixed the nice guys in Ft. COllins fixed it! only 10$ and he put on the new part to hold the cover for me! So my daughter got that helmet and I still got a new HJC. I like the fit better, and the really cool sun glasses already built in. |
