i love my new bike... it is the shiznit..... i loved my 919 but if i had test rode a interceptor before the 919 i think i would have bought it instead.... it handles like a dream.. lay it over in a curve and it tracks like a train.... the power is linear and strong... it gets great gas mileage... and it is uber comfortable... thick well padded seat... the windscreen is ample and does its job... my only complaints would be a lot of engine heat at red lights *(its south florida what you expect except heat)... and i have to get used to a hydraulic clutch again... i have to say this is probably the best bike i have ever had the privilege of owning and riding ... i just wish i had bought it a year ago.... |

I rode one of the Asphalt Black ones, really thought it looked cool but it was underpowered when compared to the 919. They are OK, the VTEK is cool when it kicks in, but the 919 is quicker, faster, better looking, less expensive to maintain, easier to work on, lighter - Anyway, the valve adjustment it a total nightmare on the VRF800's - I'd suggest selling the bike before you get it done. We've done then on machines with 32,000 miles on them and all the valves were still within spec, which is good, because if we would of had to adjust them, the owners would probably need to schmooze Obama for some of that stimilus money...... Now, I do really like the Viffer's, the sound they make is awesome, but they just do not do enough to trip my trigger to cause me to want one. I did almost, almost consider that anniversary model though, it sure looked good - but that stealthy all black one, oh my...... |

Anyway, where are the pictures? I'll find some of my buddies VFR - it's really nice, he's polished almost everything. And the decals on the side, they ROCK Ah - here it is! He made those decals - |

Oh yeah, while on the CB750 drag bike, we toyed around a bit. That VFR - well, no comparison to my drag bike. Left me for dead, like I was a boat anchor....... |

Glad to hear it's the schnizz.. I have always wanted one. Met up with a friend once on a local ferry crossing (no not fairy crossing) and we switched bikes and rode 40 miles back into town. I was amazed at how linear and smooth it was. I also fumbled with the clutch a bit but got used to it quickly. It also felt quite heavy in the slow moments, but I chalked that up to getting used to it. On the other hand, the friend immediately wanted to get a 9'er. He never did as new children put a stop to that, but it made me chuckle. Guess, I need to get off my lazy ass and start looking again. Regardless, congrats on the new purchase.. |

| ***Wing Chun*** | +1 ...Ride it on up. I got room in the garage...Don't get made if you wake up in the morning and find it on it's side though. My FZ1 has never shared the garage with another bike that doesn't belong to me so she may get pissy and bully that thing around |

Brian--what does the VTEC feel like when it kicks in? I've heard it makes the throttle feel a bit weird...

The 919 destroys the VFR in real world side by side performance comarisons. The VFR is a nice machine, it is a "Sport TOURING" bike, not a wickedly quick and agile machine with the stunning good looks of a 919..... ![]() The Viffer is a great machine, no question, and I hope Brain is happy with it for a long time. The anniversary edition, it is awesome! Me, I'm still waiting for pictures, this could all be a hoax! Last edited by UJM; 07-04-2009 at 07:38 AM. | |

A 919 is a naked commuter... not a sport bike, not a naked sport bike, etc... The funny part is Barton has a 919, makes a claim about power... He is called out and everyone from the 919 side says it must be true and Barton knows what he is talking about. Barton then buys and intercepter and makes a back to back comparison and suddenly, he must be mistaken, he muist be wrong.... Funny, he has owned both, but other people who haven't. people seem to know more... Last edited by bloaker; 07-04-2009 at 07:40 AM. |

i have not owned both well i did have a 700 but not the same. but i have had seat time on the viffer, let me tell you had the insurance not been so bad i would have the 25th vfr had the loan approved and everything, then check the insurance, looked over at the 919 and said how bout that one. maybe in a year or 2 i will have both (once i turn 25 and drop insurance down a little) |

Very cool new ride Brian, who cares how it compares to the 919, totally different machines. Like comparing my FJR to my 919, sure each does something better than the other but they're so totally different that you can't really make a valid side by side comparison. I'm curious about the comfort level, tell us more about the seat, handlebars, and pegs, and the relationship between the three. I've always thought those were beautiful bikes, they turn my head when I see one on the road. |

I agree with the apples to oranges thing. That being said I think that a VFR smokes a 919 in the looks department. It's a nice combo of Jap-tech and Euro-exotic styling. And BTW does EVERYTHING well. You got some pipes on yours? The noise comin' outta a V-four is one of the sweetest sounds known to man. It sounds like a MotoGP bike for Chrissakes. In fact that sweet glorious exhaust note is so much cooler than a 919 (or any Inline 4) that I am gonna go youtube it right now. |
